Colour Dredd Cardboard City Page

There was an exhibition called "into the unknown" at which just concluded at the Barbican. It includes a page of Cams from Judge Dredd Carboard city (2000AD prog 643 page 3 published September 1989), as well as other original comic book art pages.

Interestingly, this pages looks painted with different colours to the ones as printed and cardboard City pages which were in black & white. It is interesting to see as it looks like Cam used a similar painting style to that used in Dark Empire and some very different colour choices to the colours in the printed edition.

We believe that this was produced as a black and white page and then Cam coloured it after the fact as a one off, possibly for the 1990 exhibition. It might be that a CamFan out there has a better memory and can confirm - let us know?

Paul Gravett at the Barbican was able to give some additional information (thanks Paul!) - this page was exhibited originally in the 1990 exhibition ‘God Save The Comics!’ which he curated for the CNBDI’s opening at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France. Cam agreed to lend this piece to the touring SF exhibition organised by The Barbican, Into the Unknown. This has just ended in London and continues its global tour next to Athens, followed by Denmark and France.

The rest of the pages are as below - in black and white, and without the text pasted onto the page. This page is no longer available and is just to serve as an illustration. We still do have some Cardboard City pages available, per the listing over on the Dredd page.
